[ After everything with Tony and Bucky there's a part of him that wants to go back. That wants to redo things. Change the way they were handled. Change the outcome. Maybe it's selfish of him to think he can do that, but he's got to hope. He's got to hope that he can get through to Tony and make him understand. It's all Steve wants. To go back and tell Tony sooner. To give him a chance to process this newfound grief. To give him to terms to possibly understand. He stole that from him when he chose to keep Bucky's involvement a secret. He stole a lot of things from him and he wants to make it right. Especially for for his team. Especially for Bucky.
He feels a little awkward here. He can handle social events. He can handle people, but it all feels a little strange after what happened. After the mistakes and the missteps. After Peggy. After his team were caged like animals. He wonders if this is where he should be for the hundredth time. It feels too calm. Too much like a break. Something he doesn't rightfully think he deserves after everything. But here he is. Head a mess, but he's attempting to be sociable. Nodding and smiling if someone does the same. But Steve doesn't bound up to people. Eager to make conversation. Instead he hangs back. Waiting.
Steve's probably easily recognizable to those who know him. Or his team. While he doesn't remember the place he was told by the Administration it wasn't his first time here. Likely not his last given the propensity back home for things to go horribly awry. ] Some set up huh? [ He can only stay mute for so long. Silent and closed off. He has to keep trying. He's never going to get anywhere here if he lets himself shut down. ]
